Lena Jonsson mag je gerust een sensatie noemen. Zowel op als naast het podium weet zij te bekoren als één van de kroonjuwelen van een nieuwe generatie folkartiesten en één van Scandinaviës meest getalenteerde violistes. Lena's stijl combineert op bijzondere wijze het traditionele van de Zweedse folk met recentere invloeden uit rock, pop, American old-time en bluegrass. Het resultaat is uniek, innovatief en sprankelend. Haar inspirerende persoonlijkheid en haar muziek leverden haar nominaties op voor de Swedish Grammis. Met haar tweede album "Stories from the outside" uit 2021 won ze deze ook daadwerkelijk, naast de Manifest Prijs 2021 en werd "Stories...' ook Album of the year van LIRA Music Magazine. Dit zorgde er mede voor dat het Lena Jonsson Trio optrad voor Barack Obama en Greta Thunberg. Samen met gitarist Erik Ronström en bassist Krydda Sundström bestormt zij de Amerikaanse en Europese podia. Een passage in Muziekclub 't Ey mocht dan ook niet ontbreken.

Within ten seconds of playing the first track on this album, I found myself whisked away to another place. ... I love the balance between virtuosity and musicality on this album. Jonsson can play, there is no doubt about that, but she never attempts to outshine the tune itself or the players around her.

The musicianship by all three is exquisite - check out Erik's fingerpicking on Vidderna/Jakten, and Krydda's complex lines on the opening track, plus his walking bass on the more oldtimey numbers... Highlights for me included the gorgeous air Sjön, the slow-drag porch melody Big Lake, and the pulsing Nordic breakdown Larven.
